RESEARCH ACTIVITIES AND OTHER INTERESTS :

        • Produced biodiversity data of Lake Victoria and its catchments especially, on the satellite Lakes and dams. The work is available as LVEMP book chapters.
        • Participated in generation of information on pollution loadings in Lake Victoria, paper published in Hydrobiologia as Nutrient enrichment of Lake Victoria (Kenyan).
        • Participated in production of zones prone to algal blooms in Lake Victoria, the publication is the Proceedings of the 1st Environmental Science and Technology conference, New Orleans, Louisiana, as Persistence of blue-green algae in inshore waters of Lake Victoria, Kenya.
        • Wrote a paper on Water quality status in the Kenyan waters of Lake Victoria, published in the Proceedings of the 11th World Lake Conference Vol II, Nairobi, Kenya.
        • Participated in the installation and launching of the dual frequency echosounder equipments and have used them in estimating the stock densities of Lake Victoria during acoustic surveys biannually since 2006 to-date.

PROJECTS:

 

- Intenational foundation for Sciences (IFS) project on Toxigenic cyanobacteria in Lake Victoria, public health risks

-Implementation of a Fisheries Management Plan (IFMP) project for Lake Victoria funded by European Union

- Lake Victoria Environmental management programme (LVEMP) funded by the World bank
