KMFRI LIBRARY: Information Services and Resources
The library system comprises 2 main libraries in Kisumu (Freshwater and Inland) and Mombasa (Marine and Coastal). The library with a stock of 5000 monographs, 180 periodical titles and grey literature has access to thousands of online journals, databases, e-repositories and e-resources through agreements and consortiums such as HINARI, AGORA, INASP, IAMSLIC, UN and other international bodies. The Library acts as the national Aquatic Sciences and Fisheries Abstracts (ASFA) input centre and is also a partner in the Ocean Data and Information Network for Africa (ODINAFRICA).

To be a one stop provider of user-focused quality library services and develop collections in support of aquatic research and promotion of sustainable utilization of marine and freshwater resources.

Select, purchase, organize, and maintain a quality library collection -Offer access to material and information resources regardless of format or location -Anticipate information needs in an increasingly globalized community -Teach efficient techniques of information retrieval as well as critical evaluation and effective use of resources -Provide leadership in the use of information technology in the Institute -Promote diversity, intellectual integrity, and freedom of inquiry and expression -Expanding network of partners yields unified access, broadening knowledge, and enhanced services.
