PROFESSIONAL ACTIVITIES:

In the year1992-1993 he was the Co-ordinator of IOC/SAREC which was a sponsored course on Nutrients Dynamic in Marine ecosystem. He acted as Co-Manager in Inner Shelf Programme: Kenyan Coastal Ecosystems and their Interrelations which was a Dutch funded programme-involving scientists from Kenya, Netherlands and Belgium. He was National Co-coordinator/Project Manager in EEC – Science & Technology for Development Programme: Interlinkages in Eastern   Africa Coastal Ecosystems in 1993-1995. In 1996-1999 he was a National Co-coordinator/Project Manager (EEC-Research& Technology for Development Programme): Antropogenically Induced changes in groundwater outflow and quality, and the functioning of the Eastern African nearshore ecosystems. He was a Project Manager (CORDIO Project): Coral Reef Degradation in Indian  Ocean. He Participated as Chairman interim. IOC Regional Committee for the cooperative investigation in the North and Central Western Indian Ocean (IOCINCWIO-V) Workshop, Nairobi.(2002)2000-Onwards: Kenya’s representative to Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission (IOC) of UNESCO.


PROFESSIONAL BODIES: He was aboard member of the Western Indian Ocean Marine Science Association and currently a member.
