John Okechi

Mr. John  Okechi is an Aquaculture/Biodiversity KMFRI researcher based in Kisumu Research Centre, Aquaculture Division, and specializes in aquaculture production and biodiversity conservation. He holds a BSc in Agriculture from the University of Nairobi-Kenya, an MSc in Aquaculture from Ghent University-Belgium, and presently a PhD candidate (Aquaculture and Fisheries Conservation Biology) at Boston University-USA. Okechi is presently working on his PhD dissertation on “The impact of cage culture in Lake Victoria on the environment and fish biodiversity using ecosystem based approach”. Also, he is a Co-Investigator in an NSF funded project on the “The potential for aquaculture in Lake Victoria and the implications for wild fisheries and fish commodity markets”.
