Organization Research
KMFRI has adopted a multidisciplinary programme approach in research based on six research programmes namely, Fisheries, Aquaculture research and development, environment and ecology, natural products and post harvest, socio-economics and information and data management. Two of these programmes namely fisheries and aquaculture are core programmes of the institute. Each programme is headed by a coordinator of which there are 12, six for each research division.
Information and data management
The programme is responsible for archiving data, developing and disseminating information products. the progrm manages the institute's libraries, databases and information technology systems.
