PROFESSIONAL ACTIVITIES:

    Undertook production of the first marine resource mapping for Kenya under the sponsorship of UNEP Regional Seas Program, EAF/14 project which lasted from 1995 to 1998 and produced a GIS database and a hardcopy atlas for use in Integrated Coatal Zone Management.  The products are available in KMFRI.
    Participated in the WWF ecoregion visioning process to identify the marine priority ecoregions in Eastern Africa

    Participated in production of the 1st Sensitivity Mapping for Oil Spill atlas for the Kenyan coast in 2005, being a contribution towards the Kenya National Marine Oil Spill Contingency Plan, thereby creating maps and GIS database to be used by the Oil Spill Response Action Team.  The products are in custody of KMFRI, Mombasa

RESEARCH ACTIVITIES AND INTERESTS:

2005 to date:   Marine biodiversity information manager. The purpose being identification of  a suitable metadata format to capture the relevant information on who holds which data, in which formats from Kenyan marine scientists, populating  the meta database, creating a list of available species lists and integrating species lists in a single reference list and adding the biogeographical records.

2005 to date:   Biodiversity of Rocky and Sea grass habitats in the Kenya. (Data collector & analyzer). Responsible for field work data collection
2006: Distribution of Three Siganid Species (Siganus canaliculatus (Park 1797) Siganus sutor (Valenciennes, 1835) and Siganus stellatus (Forsskål, 1775) in South Coast, Kenya. Funded by GoK through KMFRI.

2006-2007: The reproductive biology and fishery of siganids in south coast, Kenya Project funded by WIOMSA Marine Research Grant.
2006: Preliminary survey on sustainable dolphin research and tourism collaboration with  Fisheries    Department
